Small, but Mighty Kirtland High School Band

Small, but Mighty Kirtland High School Band

The Kirtland High School Band is small, but they are mighty!

The Kirtland High School Band  under the direction of Martin Witczak have learned many complicated pieces.   For a small band, the Kirtland  High School's Band has a Jazz Band, The Wind Ensemble, Symphonic and Marching Band.  They even have a harpist in their mix!

Kirtland High School Band  will practice year round through the school classes, summer practices and band camp.  The Kirtland Band takes a trip every year and one year they marched at Disney World in Florida.

In addition to Friday Night Football Games, Kirtland High School Marching Band will play at various events throughout the year such as Memorial Day Salute, The Strawberry Festival and holiday parades.

Thursday, December 16, 2010 was their Holiday Concert, where we enjoyed the Jazz Band, the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Bands.

My son has been a member of the Symphonic and Marching Bands all 4 years of his high school life.     The band is a great way for a student to round out their academic and sport life.

Here is a piece from the Thursday Holiday Concert with all 3 bands playing,  my son is the 3rd saxophone player in.

I LOVE marching bands, big or small they stop me in my tracks everytime!!! I'm certain your son has gained soooo much in the past 4 years, in 1o or 20 years from now he might still be a bandie like me?

Yes... I was a bandie in high school :) I was a flag in the auxillary unit. We marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1977 & it was awesome! Our Defiance High School Marching Band of Class has traveled many miles and performed in many parades :)
